Freedom from PCOS

Painful Periods and The Pill

Quick quiz:

Are the following statements true or false for you?

*I struggle with painful periods since my teen years is just a fact of life for some women, and I accept that I’m one of those women.

*I Feel drained and depressed before, during, or after my period is something that I expect every month.

*I have had blood clotting with my menses cycle.

If you said ‘true’ to just one of the statements above and are experiencing these painful period-related symptoms, you are not alone. Thousands of woman struggle with painful periods every month, and while these symptoms are common, unfortunately so is the bad advice that goes along with them.

What’s this bad advice?

The Pill. Routinely, many doctors prescribe the pill to correct symptoms related to painful periods, touting feelings of depression as normal during “your time of the month.”

“But, I’ve been taking the pill for years,” you say.” “And I feel better. A lot better.”

Great! We all want to feel good and have more energy. But while the pill may actually make you feel better, taking it only masks your symptoms and doesn’t help address additional factors that should be considered when managing your PCOS, including what type of PCOS you have. Learn your PCOS type

“If the pill isn’t the answer, what is?”
